Mike’s Vision For Kentucky
Quality Education for Our Children
As a father of two daughters, Mike Harmon wanted them to have a quality education in order to be prepared for the future. He firmly believes that education should to be built on the basics of reading, writing, math, science, and history. As your State Representative, Mike will continue his effort to ensure that teachers and students have access to the resources and tools they need from Kentucky’s budget.
“I believe we need to give parents educational choices. Competition would create an incentive for poor schools to improve and good schools to get better.”
Access to Affordable Health Care
Mike Harmon understands our need for access to quality, affordable health care. In Frankfort, he will continue to support legislation that stabilizes the insurance market, encourages competition, and offers consumer choices.
“We must sit down with Kentucky citizens, doctors, insurance professionals, actuaries, and attorneys to develop a system that promotes competition and helps bring insurance and health care costs back to affordable levels.”
Tax Relief, while Providing for Kentucky's Future
As a taxpayer, Mike believes that the government should plan wisely, spend appropriately, and, if possible, return excess funds to the people through tax relief. Mike Harmon wants to ensure that the future of Kentucky is provided for with a balanced budget.
“I believe that we as a society are over taxed. When most Kentuckians spend more on taxes than food, shelter, and tithe combined, we are taxed too heavily.”
Maintaining and Creating More Jobs
Like you, Mike works hard to provide for his family. He believes it is important to provide employees with the resources needed to improve their skills, while working with businesses to ensure they get the support they need. Mike wants to help bring jobs to Boyle and Washington Counties—without losing the jobs we already have.
